What are the best restaurants in Telluride?

Certainly among the best is the Chophouse at the New Sheridan. With the only historic mining town saloon as its jumping off point, the Exec Chef has built classic menu with twists, turns of culinary surprise so as to create one of Telluride's best restaurants, and easily its prettiest, busiest and in need of more tables. In fact the adjacent Parlor Wine Bar (also within the hotel) has taken over some of the sidewalk with cafe tables.

We creates our delicious fare using only organic free range fowl, non-threatened fish species and local ingredients.

Pair a red or white from Telluride's only nitrogen wine bar with a scrumptious meal for an unforgettable experience.

The Best Restaurants in Telluride

Many people who live in Telluride look upon the New Sheridan Chop House as the best restaurant in town. They use it as their "go-to" hang-out, the social hub of the town, and as their "let's have a bang-up great meal." Now, there are other fine restaurants in town that also qualify for the title "best". Here is one - 221 South Oak, a different style. Here is how one TripAdvisor reviewer recently reflected on the difference between 221 Oak and the New Sheridan Chop House:

  • "For our last night in Telluride, we decided to splash out and go here (221 South Oak). It was a lovely evening - great food, good staff, and a pleasant venue. However, whilst it was probably a little cheaper than Sheridans Chop House, it really didn't match the impact.

If you are only going to have one expensive night out - go there instead. If you're going to have two expensive nights out - go here first !

Come nightfall, this is the social epicenter of downtown Telluride. Excellent steaks. Wagyu carpaccio with black truffles. Frisee salad with miso-glazed pork belly. Creamed corn brûlée.

We went to the Chop House for dinner on our 25th wedding anniversary, and could not have asked for a better dining experience. We were seated in a romantic corner booth location, and served complimentary champagne. Our waiter was attentive.
