Telluride's historic, joyous, all day long restaurant and Chop House at night.

In the bustling, beating heart of Telluride's mountain life "scene", here locals and visitors come to celebrate the good fortune of being in Telluride and, for some, of Telluride.

The Chop House is a classic "steak house" with traditions of mountain western game allied with western aged beef and bison. Many consider ours to be the best restaurant in Telluride allied with the very best experience of dining at the heart of mountain life.

$21 Dinner Special - steak or salmon and a glass of wine
- our affordable Steak and Wine Special at the Bar and the Parlor only

The special is available every night in the Parlor and at the Chop House Bar. The steak is our Prime Coulotte Sirloin 10 oz. from the menu. On the menu this steak is $26 so this “bar special” is a great deal with the steak and the glass of wine for just $21. The wine is Pinot Noir which we pour specifically for the "special".

The Best Restaurants in Telluride

Many people who live in Telluride look upon the New Sheridan Chop House as the best restaurant in town. They use it as their "go-to" hang-out, the social hub of the town, and as their "let's have a bang-up great meal." Now, there are other fine restaurants in town that also qualify for the title "best". Here is one - 221 South Oak, a different style. Here is how one TripAdvisor reviewer recently reflected on the difference between 221 Oak and the New Sheridan Chop House:

  • "For our last night in Telluride, we decided to splash out and go here (221 South Oak). It was a lovely evening - great food, good staff, and a pleasant venue. However, whilst it was probably a little cheaper than Sheridans Chop House, it really didn't match the impact.

If you are only going to have one expensive night out - go there instead. If you're going to have two expensive nights out - go here first !

Come nightfall, this is the social epicenter of downtown Telluride. Excellent steaks. Wagyu carpaccio with black truffles. Frisee salad with miso-glazed pork belly. Creamed corn brûlée.

We went to the Chop House for dinner on our 25th wedding anniversary, and could not have asked for a better dining experience. We were seated in a romantic corner booth location, and served complimentary champagne. Our waiter was attentive.
